Vice Pres. Emily called the meeting to order at 1241 P.M. I read the minutes from the May meeting. Treasurer Dave S. gave his treasurer report and we have funds. Membership Secretary Shaun M. stated that we hav e some new members and some other members still have not paid the yearly dues. New Business
Ken spoke about the web sight. If anyone has news letters from 2008 please forward them to Ken or me so the web sight can be updated.
Emily talked about the September Show. Space will be very tight due to the other green houses normally used for the show have been developed, and more venders coming to the show. ( I am contacting venders in attempt to confirm who is coming and what they will need. ) There will not be a July meeting but a Bog walk may take place. August meeting is normally held at BlackJungle with a cookout. They may not be in town and if that's the case a possibility of a meeting being held at the Umbrella Factory in Charlestown R.I. Lots of Carnivorous plates for sale at the Umbrella Factory along with neat stores to shop in.
Emmi gave a very informative presentation on enzymes found in Nepenthes Pitcher Plants and how it breaks down bugs for food for the plant.
Both Shaun and Dave stepped up to provide me with most of the missing back issues of the newsletter. There could still be more that we are missing (from all past years), but I think the bulk of them are available now. I for one enjoy looking through those newsletters from the early days of NECPS long before I was a member.
I've made some small additions to the FAQ as well. Nothing to get excited about but it's a start. As always, if anyone has something to contribute to the web site send it along.
I enjoyed Emmi's presentation. It was a bit technical, but she did a great job of explaining it all. I'm hoping she gets some good data from the pitcher fluids some of us will be providing her.
I'm very responsible, when ever something goes wrong they always say I'm responsible.
